Russian-Armenian scientist Artem Oganov youngest laureate of Chinese  National Prize

ArmInfo.  Russian crystallographer, chemist, and materials scientist Artem Oganov has become the youngest laureate of the Chinese National Prize in Science and Technology, which was presented to him personally by Xi Jinping. This was reported by the  Armenian European journal ORER.

This prize is awarded every two years to no more than 10 laureates.  Past laureates include many outstanding scientists, including six  Nobel laureates, as well as American physicist Shoucheng Zhang, who  was considered the most likely candidate for the Nobel Prize. This  year, the great chemist and Nobel laureate Jean-Marie Lehn also  became a laureate. "Overall, chemists and materials scientists  practically dominated this year-further evidence of a second spring  in the chemical sciences. This is China's most prestigious scientific  award. And the most prestigious award I've ever received. With this  award comes great responsibility-to move forward, develop, and make  the world a better place," Artem Oganov wrote on his social media  page.

Artem Romaevich Oganov is a Russian crystallographer, chemist, and  materials scientist, and a professor at the Russian Academy of  Sciences. He is best known for his work on computer-aided design  methods for new materials and crystal structure prediction, as well  as high-pressure chemistry and the study of planetary interior  matter.
