Main part of work on `Zangezur Corridor` in Azerbaijan to be  completed in 2027

ArmInfo. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that the main part of work on the so-called "Zangezur Corridor" in the republic will be completed next  year.

According to Azerbaijani media, he made this statement at the third  meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Azerbaijan and  Uzbekistan. He stated that, thanks to intensive work, the Azerbaijani  section of the project is scheduled for completion in 2027.

According to him, the Nakhchivan Railway "is conceptually considered  as part of the Azerbaijan Railways," and therefore Baku intends to  create "an international consortium involving companies and states  interested in investing in the project, generating profits, and  ensuring guaranteed traffic volumes along this route."

"For your information, I'd like to say that work is also underway in  Armenia; our American partners keep us informed. And, as far as we've  been told, construction will begin either at the end of this year or  early next year in Armenia. However, the pipeline there is only 42  kilometers long, while in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic it's  194. Yes, that's why we've started the work, and we'll complete it in  any case.  But given that we know there's interest from various  companies, I'd simply like to inform you that there's an opportunity,  should there be such interest, to participate in the proposed  consortium," Aliyev stated.
