ArmInfo. At this rate, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will lead the Armenian people to a "tenth republic," a trend that must be prevented. This was the assessment provided by Samvel Karapetyan, the businessman and leader of the "Strong Armenia" bloc, during an interview with reporters in Yerevan on August 20. Karapetyan's remarks came in response to a request for his assessment of Pashinyan's statement that Armenia is entering the era of the "Fourth Republic."
When asked if he perceives risks in this serial rebranding of the state, Karapetyan answered in the affirmative. "Certainly. Do you not see the threats? By yielding lands and proclaiming new republics, we will eventually reach [the province of] Lori and be forced to make our final stand there," the "Strong Armenia" leader declared.
During the government session on August 20, Prime Minister Pashinyan had stated that, following the results of the parliamentary elections, Armenia is entering a new historical phase, which the government is designating as the "Fourth Republic."
