
ArmInfo.As part of the events dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Hovhannes Sharambeyan, the international exhibition "Textile Dialogues" has opened in Dilijan.
According to a press release from the Green Rock Foundation, the exhibition opened on August 17 at the Museum of Folk Art, featuring works by master textile artists from Armenia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Georgia, Romania, Greece, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The showcase highlights diverse international textile traditions, methods of preservation and transmission, and modern creative interpretations of traditional craft.
During the exhibition, international participants visiting Armenia hosted workshops for children and teenagers interested in weaving and textile arts, offering them hands-on exposure to traditional techniques and creative approaches from various countries.
Several textile arts traditions including lacemaking, embroidery, and carpet weaving are included in UNESCO's safeguarding framework for intangible cultural heritage. The Dilijan exhibition is organized with the support of the Regional Sofia Centre- UNESCO.
The primary goal of the international exhibition is to promote the recognition and popularization of intangible cultural heritage, foster professional connections, encourage knowledge exchange, and build avenues for international cooperation. The initiative also aims to invigorate the tourism and cultural landscape of Dilijan.
Throughout the commemorative year honoring the renowned artist, a series of exhibitions, academic and educational programs, public meetings, and other events are planned to showcase Sharambeyan's multifaceted legacy.
At the opening ceremony, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Green Rock Foundation and the Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Art.
