ArmInfo. The leaders of the opposition parliamentary factions "Strong Armenia" and "Armenia" have stated they do not intend to accept a meeting invitation from Anna Hakobyan, the wife of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Previously, Hakobyan urged opposition female lawmakers to join an initiative to amend Armenia's Criminal Code and classify domestic violence as a distinct standalone crime. To discuss the proposal, she invited the leaders of the two opposition blocs—Narek Karapetyan of "Strong Armenia" and Anna Grigoryan of "Armenia"—to a meeting.
"No, the faction has no such desire," Narek Karapetyan, head of the "Strong Armenia" parliamentary faction, told reporters at the Armenian parliament when asked about the initiative. Anna Grigoryan, head of the "Armenia" faction, gave a similar response. "No, we do not intend to meet. I will publish a video statement regarding this matter later," she told journalists in parliament.
