ArmInfo. Armenian law enforcement agencies have busted a transnational criminal organization that stole financial assets from citizens through advanced electronic technologies, the Investigative Committee reported.
According to the investigation, a citizen identified as A.M. entered into a prior agreement with accomplices in Armenia and abroad. Between June and November 29, 2025, A.M. participated in a transnational criminal organization. The leaders of the organization recruited over 50 members, established a multi-tiered hierarchical structure with specialized role distribution, enforced strict internal behavioral rules, and deployed meticulous mechanisms to execute financial crimes. Operating from rented premises, the syndicate members used various pseudonyms to pose as lawyers, representatives of international companies, cryptocurrency exchanges, and financial directors to carry out large-scale computer fraud.
The preliminary investigation confirmed that the network stole at least AMD 2,518,288,500 (approximately $6.4 million USD) from citizens. During a search of A.M.'s residence, authorities seized AMD 29,491,000 in ill-gotten funds alongside a large quantity of gold jewelry. The court will address the confiscation of these assets. Upon the instruction of the supervising prosecutor, criminal charges were brought against A.M. under: Part 1 of Article 319 (Participation in a criminal organization); Points 1 and 3 of Part 3 of Article 257 (Computer theft on an especially large scale by a criminal organization) of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
The case file and indictment have been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor for trial.
