On August 17, RA Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, together with Deputy Head of the National Security Service David Sanamyan, visited Zvartnots Airport to inspect the preparatory work for the introduction of automated "electronic gate" systems, as reported by the MIA press service.
The Minister was presented with the necessary infrastructure solutions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the "electronic gate" systems. In parallel with the introduction of biometric passports, automated electronic checkpoint systems are planned for the introduction of at Armenia's border crossings. The "Electronic Gate" is an automated, contactless border crossing system that will allow for quick border crossings without border guard intervention by scanning passports and automatically identifying individuals, speeding up border control and reducing waiting times.
Issues related to the system's implementation stages, work organization, and ensuring the necessary conditions for the efficient and uninterrupted operation of the "Electronic Gate" systems were also discussed.
That same day, Minister Sargsyan also inspected the final stages of construction for a new Migration and Citizenship Service office located in a Yerevan shopping center. Designed around a "single window" principle by HayPass, the new facility aims to cut down administrative burdens and reduce queues for citizens. The Minister gave additional instructions to ensure continued efficiency.
The design and logistics solutions for the offices being built by HayPass are based on a "single window" principle, which will reduce queues, administrative complexities, and significantly save citizens' time.
