


ArmInfo. In 2026, 1,545 cases of drug trafficking were detected in Armenia, as stated by Deputy Interior Minister Kamo Tsutsulyan at a press conference on August 18.
According to him, 320 kg of drugs were seized, and the number of drug trafficking cases decreased by 111. In recent years, the internet has also become a source of drug sales. 266 cases of online sales were uncovered.
Also in Armenia during the first half of 2026, there was an increase in traffic accidents, yet fewer fatalities resulting from road traffic crashes were recorded. From January to June of the current year, 2,146 traffic accidents were registered, which is higher than the same period in 2025 (2,072 cases). At the same time, in 2026, the number of deaths resulting from road accidents decreased by 3.4%.
Overall, as the deputy minister noted, in the first half of 2026, the number of crimes decreased by 0.3%. Specifically, 21,960 crimes were recorded in Armenia during the reporting period, compared to 22,025 in 2025. Meanwhile, the number of attempted crimes increased.
According to Tsutsulyan, during the reporting period, grave and especially grave crimes decreased by 1.9%. Thus, light and medium-severity crimes account for 88.2%, while grave and especially grave crimes make up 11.8%.
