ArmInfo. The long-awaited awards ceremony for the "Top 100 Students of Armenia" competition has finally taken place. Held on August 17, the eve of Samvel Karapetyan's birthday, the event brought participants together in an intimate setting, with Samvel Karapetyan personally in attendance.
According to a report received by ArmInfo, Samvel Karapetyan welcomed 100 high-achieving students selected from all regions of Armenia and Artsakh. During the official ceremony, he personally presented each participant with a certificate.
Each selected student received compensation equal to the cost of tuition for one academic year. The initiative aims to encourage young people who have chosen a path of education and self-development, as well as to support their continued education.
In addition to their GPA, students' motivation letters played a key role in the application review process. These provided a more complete understanding of the candidates' goals, attitudes toward education, and future plans. The program included students from all regions of Armenia, as well as young people internally displaced from Artsakh and currently studying in Armenia. It was open to students of all majors, with no restrictions on their field of study. The selected participants represented a variety of universities, majors, and educational programs.
At the same time, Gohar Gumashyan, Executive Director of the Foundation, emphasized that the Foundation's activities are non-political in nature. The statement also noted that, given the restrictions put in place due to local elections, students selected from communities where election dates had already been announced did not participate in the event, and their tuition reimbursement for one academic year will not be provided at this stage.
In his address to the students, Samvel Karapetyan noted that similar programs will continue to support young people in their education and encourage their achievements. The date of the ceremony was chosen deliberately: August 18th is Samvel Karapetyan's birthday. A year earlier, on this day, the first spectators at the recently opened Tashir Arena were children from low-income and large families, families from Artsakh, as well as the children of heroes who gave their lives for their homeland, and service members injured in the fighting. A charity concert, "Children for Children," was organized for them.
This tradition continues this year: for the second year in a row, August 18th is celebrated with educational and cultural initiatives aimed at children and young people.
