Tension escalates in Armenian Parliament following Edgar Ghazaryan`s  speech

ArmInfo. The "Strong Armenia" opposition faction has violated the rules of decency for the second time, as stated by RA National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan during a session of the National Assembly on August 13, commenting on the speech of Edgar Ghazaryan, a member of the faction.

"I am a very patient person, and while we are very glad you initially accepted my offer to be polite, I must state that this is the second time that  the norms of politeness have been violated in this room. I must say right away that our agreement on politeness is on the verge of  collapse, as is the process of Edgar Ghazaryan's comfortable presence in this room. Edgar Ghazaryan and his behavior are the biggest  problem in this room. I expect you to apologize for his inappropriate behavior," Rubinyan stated, addressing faction leader Narek  Karapetyan.

In response, the faction leader pointed out the incommensurability of  a repeated violation of the norms of decency. "We are all patient; we  all don't want to show our society something we will later be ashamed  of.  Regarding Mr. Ghazaryan's words, frankly, I share his concerns  to some extent, but in any case, the faction will hold a meeting to  discuss further steps, about which we will inform you," he noted. 

Edgar Ghazaryan, a member of the National Assembly from the Strong  Armenia opposition bloc, speaking at a National Assembly session on  August 13, in a fit of emotion called members of the ruling party  "scum." He claimed that the current government's policies had caused  enormous human losses, including that of his godson, Aghajan Janoyan.  "If Aghajan had been able to become a military doctor, as he so  dreamed of, many lives would have been saved, the lives you scum are  trying to manipulate," the opposition member declared as he stepped  down from the podium and left the session hall. Members of the ruling  Civil Contract faction followed him.  National Assembly Vice Speaker  Hayk Konjoryan also responded to Ghazaryan's speech, calling urging  the opposition to refrain from such statements. Otherwise, Ghazaryan  would be thrown out of the parliament building.
