Expert: Current process is not about peace, but implementing  Azerbaijan`s wishlist

ArmInfo.  The Armenian Foreign Ministry will likely refrain from criticizing yesterday's  statement by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, which, in its  content, amounts to nothing less than direct interference in  Armenia's internal affairs.  Tatevik Hayrapetyan, expert on  Azerbaijani studies, wrote in her social media post.

Hayrapetyan noted that Aliyev's remarks directly contradict both  ongoing peace negotiations and the text of the agreement signed in  Washington on August 8, 2025, which explicitly prohibits the parties  from interfering in each other's domestic matters.

 "However, today Azerbaijan is deciding what kind of constitution  Armenia should have, whether it should have a nuclear power plant,  and it allows itself to openly voicing this. In reality, under the  guise of peace, a process of 'Finlandization' of Armenia is underway.  While Finland, based on the situation, previously submitted to the  conditions dictated by the influential Soviet Union, now the Armenian  government has agreed to transform Armenia into a country subject to  Azerbaijan's conditions. And, unfortunately, this is happening with  the approval of various external players, since Armenia itself has  decided not to fight, not to resist, not to take steps to defend its  own sovereignty and territorial integrity," Hayrapetyan stated.

She added that the issue at hand is not peace, but rather the process  of implementing Azerbaijan's wish list, which is currently being  implemented by Armenia's ruling "Destroy the State" party.
