Armenian students finish 5th in team competition at  International  Olympiad in AI

ArmInfo.  This year, Armenian schoolchildren won two bronze medals at the International  Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).

Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and  Sports of Armenia, shared this information on her Facebook page. The  Armenian national team secured 5th place  in the team rankings among  120 participating countries, trailing only New Zealand, Hong Kong,  Puerto Rico, and Spain.  "Our team members represent public schools  in Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor. They were selected following a  national round in which 170 schoolchildren participated," Andreasyan  said.

Launched in 2024, the IOAI is one of the newest international science  Olympiads designed to discover and cultivate young talent in  artificial intelligence and machine learning.

IOAI-2026 was the third edition of the Olympiad and took place from  August 2 to 8, 2026, in Astana, Kazakhstan. The program featured both  individual and team challenges, with tasks focusing on theoretical  knowledge as well as the practical application of artificial  intelligence methods.
