Drug trafficking investigation concluded in Armenia; Two arrested

ArmInfo.  The preliminary investigation into a large-scale drug trafficking case  has been completed in Armenia, resulting in the arrest of two  individuals, as reported by the Investigative Committee of the  Republic of Armenia.

Based on findings from investigative procedures and joint operational  efforts conducted by the National Security Service and the State  Revenue Committee, authorities obtained concrete evidence that an  Armenian citizen, identified as R.K., conspired with a foreign  national. Operating as part of a criminal group between January 17  and April 12, 2026, R.K. acquired large quantities of methadone and  marijuana, set retail prices, and began distributing the substances.

In a separate operation linked to the international narcotics supply  chain, two foreign nationals acting in collusion smuggled a  substantial consignment of marijuana into Armenia. On April 29, 2026,  they retrieved the shipment near the auto parts market on Arin Berd  Street in Yerevan. However, they were unable to complete the crime as  law enforcement officers intercepted and detained them.

By decision of the supervising prosecutor, criminal charges under  various articles of the Criminal Code have been brought against the  Armenian citizen.

Two suspects have been remanded in custody as part of the preliminary  investigation, while administrative supervision has been applied to a  third individual as a preventive measure. The case file, complete  with an indictment, has been forwarded to the supervising  prosecutor's office for further proceedings.
