Criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia have established that between 2016 and 2024, an individual who held the positions of chief and leading specialist of the Ararat Regional Department of the Probation Service of the RA Ministry of Justice, using his official authority, received wages and equivalent payments accrued in his name while absent from work without legal grounds for 597 days and failing to fulfill his job duties.
Thus, he fraudulently embezzled a sum on an especially large scale - a total of 9,051,470 Armenian drams. This was stated in a statement by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee.
The investigation also established that the individuals who held the positions of head of the Ararat Regional Probation Service abused their official powers and failed to record the absence of the said employee, resulting in significant property damage to the state. This employee has been charged under Article 255, Part 3, Clause 3 of the RA Criminal Code, while the individuals who held the positions of head of the probation service have been charged under Article 441, Part 2, Clause 2 and Article 441, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. The damages have been fully compensated.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the case materials along with the indictment have been sent to the RA Anti-Corruption Court.
