ArmInfo. On August 10, the National Assembly of Armenia continued to debate the candidacy of lawyer Aram Vardevanyan, nominated by the "Strong Armenia" opposition bloc, as the third NA Vice Speaker.
Today marks the third day of debates on Aram Vardevanyan's candidacy. Around 60 MPs signed up for the debate, an unprecedented number in the history of parliament.
The National Assembly previously elected NA Speaker Ruben Rubinyan and Vice Speakers Hayk Konjoryan and Vahagn Aleksanyan, who were nominated by the ruling Civil Contract faction. According to the country's legislation, the third vice-speaker must represent the party that received the largest number of votes in the parliamentary elections, which is the Strong Armenia bloc.
