French MFA: Authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan have taken bold  steps to achieve tangible peace

ArmInfo.  Over the past year, the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan have taken important and bold steps to make peace tangible for their peoples.

Pascal Confavrier, Spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign  Affairs (MFA), made this statement on his microblog X (formerly  Twitter) on August 8, the day the joint "Declaration of Peace"  between Armenia and Azerbaijan was signed in Washington. "August 8,  2026, marks the first anniversary of the historic agreement aimed at  normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Over the past  year, the authorities of both countries have taken important and  courageous steps to make peace tangible for their peoples," wrote the  French Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

According to him, France expects this process to continue with the  signing and ratification of a peace treaty between Armenia and  Azerbaijan. "Along with its European partners, France will continue  to actively support this process, with full respect for the  sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan," the  diplomat concluded.

As a reminder, on August 8, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a seven-point  joint "Declaration of Peace" in Washington. It envisages a joint  appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe  (OSCE) to terminate the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures, as  well as the creation of a transport corridor through Armenian  territory that would connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhichevan exclave,  surrounded by Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. On January 14, 2026, the  Armenian Foreign Ministry published a framework document signed with  the American side in Washington for the implementation of the Trump  Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).  The 12-page  document presents the project's main objectives and operating  mechanisms. Among other things, the document emphasizes Armenia's  intention to authorize and support the creation of the TRIPP  Development Company.

The company is expected to be responsible for the development of the  TRIPP project, receiving an initial development right for a period of  49 years. Armenia intends to offer the United States a 74% stake in  the TRIPP Development Company, retaining 26%. The partnership is  expected to be extended for another 50 years, with an additional  ownership stake being awarded to the Armenian government, bringing  its stake to 49%.
