Not all problems resolved yet, but peace established - Ruben Rubinyan 

ArmInfo. Not all the problems have been resolved yet, but peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been established. This message was issued by Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ruben Rubinyan on his Facebook page on August 8, the day the joint "Declaration of Peace" between Armenia and Azerbaijan was signed in Washington.

Rubinyan noted that exactly one year ago, when the peace agreement  was signed in Washington, skeptics did not believe it would bring  real peace and did not believe it would end the constant exchanges of  fire on the border and the loss of life. "They didn't believe we  would end the blockade. They openly said that by doing so, we were  paving the way for the other side, while we ourselves were getting  nothing in return and were stuck in a dead end," the Speaker of the  Armenian Parliament noted.

However, as Rubinyan emphasized, subsequent events have proven the  opposite. For example, he noted that for about two and a half years,  there have been no incidents or casualties at the border, and the  country not only hasn't remained in a state of "blockade," but has  also been the first to reap the positive benefits of unblocking its  roads: for example, it has established a rail link with the rest of  the world through Azerbaijan.

"The same thing happened through Turkish territory, as Turkey had  previously lifted restrictions on the use of its transport networks,  and we gained transport links with Europe, as well as the Middle  East. This is real peace, and we should celebrate it without feeling  bad about it. We deserve peace. Yes, of course, not all the problems  have been resolved yet; they will continue. There will still be  statements that will make us nervous. But there will be no gunshots,  no casualties, no sense of threat at the border, and no worries about  our relatives serving in the army. Because peace has been  established," Rubinyan concluded.

As a reminder, on August 8, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a seven-point  joint "Declaration of Peace" in Washington. It provides for a joint  appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe  (OSCE) to terminate the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures, as  well as the creation of a transport corridor through Armenian  territory that will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhichevan exclave,  surrounded by Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. On January 14, 2026, the  Armenian Foreign Ministry published the framework document signed  with the American side in Washington for the implementation of the  Trump Roadmap for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP). The  12-page document presents the project's main goals and operational  mechanisms. Among other things, the document emphasizes Armenia's  intention to sanction and support the creation of the TRIPP  Development Company. The company is expected to be responsible for  developing the TRIPP project, receiving an initial development right  for a period of 49 years. Armenia intends to offer the United States  a 74% stake in the TRIPP Development Company, retaining 26%. This  partnership is expected to be extended for another 50 years, with an  additional ownership stake granted to the Armenian government,  bringing its stake to 49%.
