August 8, 2025, milestone, and Armenia`s history can be divided into  period before and after it - RA premier 

ArmInfo.  August 8, 2025, is a milestone, and the history of the Republic of Armenia can be divided into the period before and after it. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered this message on his Facebook page on August 8, the day the joint "Declaration of Peace" between Armenia and  Azerbaijan was signed in Washington.

"Exactly one year ago, on this day - August 8, 2025 - at the  initiative and with the participation of President Donald Trump,  peace was established between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a result of a  trilateral meeting held in Washington, D.C., at the White House. We  now call that August 8 meeting the Peace Summit, and the joint  declaration adopted by me and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and  also signed by the US President as witness, the Declaration of Peace.  These names fully reflect the result of August 8, 2025: the peace  established between Armenia and Azerbaijan is visible and tangible  for all," the Armenian Prime Minister stated.

In his opinion, in the parliamentary elections on June 7, 2026, the  citizens of Armenia not only cast their vote of confidence in peace  but also assumed responsibility for peace. However, Pashinyan  acknowledged that this does not mean they have reached the end point  of the peace agenda. "The Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and  Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan," initialed on  August 8, 2025, in Washington by the foreign ministers of Armenia and  Azerbaijan in the presence of the three leaders, awaits signature and  ratification, and the delimitation of the border between Armenia and  Azerbaijan has yet to take place. "We are all deeply concerned and  alarmed by the imprisonment of our compatriots in Azerbaijan. But it  is clear that August 8, 2025, is a milestone, and we can divide the  history of the Republic of Armenia into the period before and after,"  the Armenian Prime Minister noted.

Pashinyan believes that before August 8, 2025, the Armenian state was  in a dead end, but after August 8, 2025, boundless opportunities have  opened up before it, the seizing of which depends on our collective  will, our knowledge, and our ability to study the world and our own  history. "This is precisely the greatest political and  socio-psychological result of the Washington Peace Summit: the helm  of our history is once again in our hands. This does not mean that  the path is perfect and without dangers, but it means that our  decisions are the primary factor determining our future destiny, and  this is a historic turning point. The preceding period and the  results of the National Assembly elections convince us that we can,  we are capable-as a state and a people-of taking responsibility for  our destiny, and for this I want to thank each and every one of you,  dear citizens of the Republic of Armenia," the Armenian Prime  Minister emphasized.

He called the Trump Pathway for International Peace and Prosperity  (TRIPP) project one of the most important results of the Washington  Peace Summit. According to him, this project will not only end the  blockade of Armenia in the very near future and become the backbone  of the Armenian and regional economies, but will also help Armenia  and Azerbaijan begin to view each other not as an obstacle, but as a  way forward, as neighbors. "We will soon begin the practical  implementation of the TRIPP project, and this will be a major  regional and international event," Pashinyan stated. 

The Armenian Prime Minister reiterated that the conflict between  Armenia and Azerbaijan has been closed and peace has been  established. "And here it is - before your eyes, this is your life  and your everyday life.  Establishing any peace is not easy, and  establishing ours was not easy either. But destroying any peace and  bringing it to nothing is extremely easy, and this can be done very  quickly, and the question arises: will it be possible to establish  peace again after 35 years? Today, many - some deliberately, others  unwittingly - act in accordance with the logic of destroying peace,  and this activity is sometimes disguised under a pleasant or  "patriotic" veil. I want to say without affectation: in order to make  peace irreversible, it is necessary to stop the rhetoric about the  right of "the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh - ed.) to  return" and "the Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan to return," and in  Azerbaijan - about the right of "return to Western Azerbaijan and  Western Azerbaijanis." This is an issue that must be addressed both  in Armenia and in Azerbaijan - in the name of the right of our  generations to peaceful coexistence. It is precisely this right that  we must realize and defend today, and we must "We must overcome any  rhetoric that contradicts this. I thank President Trump for his  undeniable efforts to establish this peace. I congratulate the people  of Armenia on August 8. I congratulate the people of Azerbaijan on  August 8.  Finally, we have a day that pacifies us, not inflames us.  And may all the victims of conflict rest in peace.  Never again. Long  live peace," Pashinyan concluded.

As a reminder, on August 8, 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a seven-point  joint "Declaration of Peace" in Washington. It provides for a joint  appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe  (OSCE) to terminate the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures, as  well as the creation of a transport corridor through Armenian  territory that will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhichevan exclave,  surrounded by Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. On January 14, 2026, the  Armenian Foreign Ministry published a framework document signed with  the American side in Washington for the implementation of the Trump  Roadmap for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP). The 12-page  document outlines the project's main objectives and operating  mechanisms. Among other things, the document emphasizes Armenia's  intention to authorize and support the establishment of the TRIPP  Development Company. The company is expected to be responsible for  the development of the TRIPP project, receiving an initial  development right for a period of 49 years. Armenia intends to offer  the United States a 74% stake in TRIPP Development Company, retaining  26%. This partnership is expected to be extended for another 50  years, with an additional ownership stake granted to the Armenian  government, bringing its stake to 49%.
