ArmInfo. Armenia and Russia are ready to further develop interparliamentary cooperation and strengthen mutual understanding on bilateral issues, according to the press service of the Armenian Parliament, citing the results of a  telephone conversation between the Speaker of the National Assembly  of Armenia, Ruben Rubinyan, and the Speaker of the Federation Council  of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina  Matviyenko.

According to the source, the interlocutors discussed issues related  to the interparliamentary cooperation agenda between Armenia and  Russia, highlighting the importance of maintaining parliamentary  dialogue and cooperation on issues of mutual interest. They also  addressed a number of issues related to the current stage of  bilateral relations between Armenia and Russia. 

Ruben Rubinyan noted that unjustified restrictions on the export of  Armenian products to the Russian market are a matter of concern. In  this regard, he emphasized the importance of resolving this issue  within the existing legal framework between the two countries and the  regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Furthermore, the interlocutors discussed the agenda of relations  between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union. Ruben  Rubinyan noted that the referendum on Armenia's accession to the EU,  expected by Russia, can only become possible after Armenia formally  applies for EU membership and the process enters the substantive  stage.
