ArmInfo. Moscow and Yerevan are discussing the opening of a Russian Consulate General in Kapan and an Armenian consular office in Vladikavkaz. Bagir Mamiyev, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's representative office in Vladikavkaz, told RIA Novosti. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced Armenia's plans to open a consular office in North Ossetia back in 2023.
"As of today, this issue (opening an Armenian consular office in Vladikavkaz - ed.), as well as the opening of a Russian Consulate General in Kapan (Armenia), has not been removed from the bilateral agenda, but it is premature to discuss any specific timeframes," Mamiyev said. He also emphasized that the Foreign Ministry's office in Vladikavkaz has established stable working contacts with the Armenian Consulate General in Rostov-on-Don, including on issues related to Armenian carriers at the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint, which remains the only land route linking Russia with Georgia and further on with Armenia.
