RF Permanent Representative: There is no CSTO-Armenia conflict

ArmInfo. There is no conflict between Armenia and the Collective Security Treaty  Organization (CSTO), and it is incorrect to assert that any rift  began with the escalation between Yerevan and Baku, Viktor Vasilyev,  Russia's Permanent Representative to the CSTO, stated in an interview  with RIA Novosti.

"There is no 'conflict' between Armenia and the CSTO. To say that it  allegedly began in 2021 is also a priori incorrect," Vasilyev said in  response to the agency's question.

The diplomat emphasized that multi-year efforts had been pursued  across various international formats to achieve compromise solutions  for the Karabakh settlement. According to Vasilyev, Russia put  forward appropriate solutions that remain well known to the  leaderships of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that "the conflict  had nothing to do with the CSTO mandate, and Yerevan knows this."

Recall, Armenia froze its participation in the CSTO in 2024, a  decision prompted by the organization's perceived inaction during  successive armed escalations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
