ArmInfo. American author and essayist Nassim Nicholas Taleb, best known for his international bestseller The Black Swan, has declined an invitation to lecture in Azerbaijan. Taleb stated that he refuses to travel to the country while renowned philanthropist, intellectual, and former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan remains imprisoned.
Writing on social media, Taleb noted that organizers significantly increased their financial offer, failing to realize that his ethical stance is not for sale. "I was asked to go to Azerbaijan for a lecture. I declined. They yuugely upped offer, not understanding my ethics, and thinking it would make a difference. I will not set foot in Azerbaijan with Ruben Vardanyan jailed there," Taleb wrote.
