RPA: At one point, the majority of societies voted for both Hitler  and Mussolini, so what?

ArmInfo.  In the future, historians will characterize the policies of Armenia's current  leadership as a period marked by the loss of Artsakh, the weakening  of Armenian statehood, and the abandonment of national aspirations.  In this context, appealing to the "will of the people" will offer no  justification, writes Eduard Sharmazanov, a board member of the  Republican Party of Armenia, on his official social media page.

 "Representatives of the current regime, without giving each other a  chance to speak, claim that the people voted for them. Even foreign  observers have recorded numerous violations and instances of the  misuse of administrative resources, not to mention the numerous  documented arrests and detentions of opposition members," Sharmazanov  stated.  He recalled that their party formally outlined its concerns  regarding the regime's anti-democratic measures during the party  congress on April 4, noting that warning signs of election  manipulation were evident even before the official campaign began. 

He also pointed out the flip side of the issue. "Gaining votes does  not mean pursuing a true and effective policy. Let me remind you that  at one point, the majority of German and Italian societies  voted for  both Hitler and Mussolini, and so what? History has demonstrated that  society can be manipulated and can make mistakes in its decisions.  Moreover, such decisions come at a high cost to the people," the  politician noted.
