ArmInfo. The cycle has ended, but the struggle continues. Seyran Ohanyan, former RA Defense Minister and former leader of the opposition "Armenia" faction of the 8th National Assembly, wrote this on his Facebook page.
"Another stage of my life has ended – my work in the 8th parliament, but the struggle still lies ahead. And today, looking back on the path of the "Armenia" faction and my colleagues from 2021 to 2026, I can say that I have lived every second, remaining true to my calling and oath: 'I serve the Republic of Armenia.' We fought with all our might, and for this I appreciate the work we did both in the National Assembly and beyond. In the street struggle, during the Resistance Movement, the Sacred Movement, at regional meetings, and in open meetings with our compatriots, we were inspired by their sincere support and gratitude, and we had the courage to listen to criticism. At international forums, we worthily represented and defended the state and national interests of Artsakh and Armenia. I experienced great pain watching the exodus of Armenians and the capitulation of our holy Artsakh. On the battlefield, we won victory through the strength of our spirit and at the cost of the lives of our heroes, but the current rulers, misleading the public with false promises of peace, brought war and defeat and remained silent during the days of genocide and national tragedy unfolding in Artsakh.
We have walked an incredible way and left a unique mark. The history of our service and dedication, I am confident, will be duly appreciated in the future. The spirit of our struggle inspired and united the opposition. It was an honor for me to lead the Armenia faction. I am grateful to all my colleagues, and especially to the leader of the Armenia bloc, President Robert Kocharyan of Artsakh and Armenia. I am grateful to all the devotees of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnatsutyun). I am grateful to all our sympathizers and supporters. "I am grateful to all those truly great Armenians who, persecuted by these authorities and illegally detained, becoming political prisoners, do not retreat from their patriotic principles and continue the struggle for the Homeland and for historical justice," noted Seyran Ohanyan.
He added that tomorrow the "Armenia" faction will come to the National Assembly with a new composition to continue its pro-Armenian mission. "I will continue to stand by the faction as part of the bloc, supporting them in their future difficult service with my experience, knowledge, and the full potential of my abilities. As I have already said, the cycle has ended, but the struggle continues. And only together, only united, can we remove from power the force that continues to destroy the foundations of our state, attack our sovereignty, attempt to erase the millennia-old national identity of Armenians, and attack the Armenian Apostolic Church. We must remove from power as quickly as possible a force that, while condemning intolerance and bad morals, sows hatred in our society and is the greatest blasphemer and liar. I wish us all success in our national struggle. And I am confident that together we can do it," the politician concluded.
