Pre-trial detention of "Strong Armenia" party co-Founder Alik  Aleksanyan extended by two months

ArmInfo. The pre-trial detention of Alik Aleksanyan, co- founder of the "Strong Armenia"  party, has been extended for another two months. This was announced  to journalists by his defense attorney, Eduard Hovhannisyan.

"We consider this decision unacceptable and intend to appeal it in  the Court of Appeal," the attorney stated.

Alik Aleksanyan is accused of large-scale money laundering and  materially incentivizing citizens to participate in assemblies and  rallies. According to the Investigative Committee, substantial funds  from the "Tashir" Foundation passed through the organization led by  Aleksanyan, which investigators claim were channeled into financing  rallies and sham employment for participants. The defense maintains  Aleksanyan's innocence, asserting that there are no factual grounds  for his continued detention. 

Against the backdrop of the extension of Aleksanyan's arrest, law  enforcement agencies have conducted searches at the residence of  another political bloc ally, Narek Karapetyan. The Investigative  Committee confirmed that the searches at Karapetyan's home are  connected to the criminal case involving Alik Aleksanyan.
