Minister: Three inmate deaths recorded in Armenia over the past two  years, two of which were suicides

ArmInfo.  Currently, the number of convicted inmates in the country's penitentiary  institutions exceeds the number of remand prisoners by 150-160. RA  Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan told reporters on July 30.

According to her, such a situation has not been seen in the previous  five years. This is a historic development and is considered a  positive one.

The minister added that three prisoner deaths have been recorded in  penitentiaries over the past two years, one of which was biological,  and two were suicides. At the same time, an increase in suicide  prevention was noted in 2026, with a total of 27 such cases compared  to 15 last year.
