ArmInfo. A two-day amateur cycling race will be heldaround Lake Sevan this August. AMD 23,937,400 will be allocated from the government's Reserve Fund for the race. The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting on July 30.
The rationale for the draft decision notes that the first bicycle race around Lake Sevan was held in 2024 under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and received a positive response from cyclists. Given this favorable feedback, the need arose to organize and conduct a two-day amateur cycling race around Lake Sevan in August 2026. Individuals aged 18 and older are eligible to participate, with plans to attract approximately 170 participants from various regions and cities of Armenia.
The goal of the amateur cycling races is to popularize cycling and a healthy lifestyle in the Republic of Armenia as an active lifestyle and means of recreation, to enhance the role of cycling as an eco- friendly means of transportation, to develop sports tourism and to present Lake Sevan as an attractive venue for international sporting events.
