ArmInfo. A new case of food poisoning at a public catering facility has been identified in Armenia's Lori Province. On July 27, 2026, the Lori Regional Center of the Food Safety Supervision Authority received a verbal report of food poisoning. A large wedding was taking place at the Lori Peak restaurant in the village of Chochkan.
The official statement stated that during the wedding, some guests began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. As a result, 15 people were taken to Noyemberyan Hospital and six to Alaverdi Hospital.
Inspection authority inspectors immediately responded to the alarm and began monitoring activities at the facility that same day. Samples of the food products were taken and sent for laboratory testing. The results will be published.
It should be noted that a high-profile case of mass poisoning recently occurred during the Bastille Day celebrations at the French Embassy in Armenia on July 14. Ten guests at an official reception at the French Embassy in Armenia fell ill with an acute intestinal infection, after which the Food Safety Inspectorate launched an inspection of the kitchen at the Armenia Marriott Hotel, which prepared the food for the reception. Of the 12 guests who sought medical attention, seven were diagnosed with salmonellosis. Four patients were hospitalized, but by July 24 they had already been discharged. Internal laboratory tests of the products at the Armenia Marriott hotel complex itself indeed showed no pathogens. However, the RA Ministry of Health and the Inspectorate emphasize that the hotel had already tested other batches of food. The dishes that were served at the reception on July 14 had been completely consumed by the time the inspections began, so it was not possible to physically test them for salmonella.
