On July 23 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan, who was on a working visit to Ho Chi Minh City, met with Pham Dut Diem, Director General of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of Armenia-Vietnam relations, with particular emphasis on enhancing cooperation between local authorities, expanding trade and economic ties, promoting collaboration in high technologies, attracting investment, and strengthening business-to-business exchanges.
Ambassador Baghdasaryan underscored Ho Chi Minh City's role as Vietnam's economic and technological hub and proposed intensifying cooperation by establishing sister-city relations between Ho Chi Minh City and one of Armenia's major cities. He also highlighted the importance of the possible establishment of a TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in Ho Chi Minh City, fostering cooperation between the Saigon Hi-Tech Park and Armenian IT companies, expanding the presence of Armenian products in the city, and organizing a visit of an Armenian business delegation to Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of reopening the Office of the Honorary Consul of Armenia in Ho Chi Minh City, noting that the relevant approval procedures are currently underway.
For his part, Pham Dut Diem welcomed the proposals put forward by the Armenian side and reaffirmed Ho Chi Minh City's readiness to further expand cooperation with Armenia.
