Deceased serviceman Narek Torosyan was RAU student

ArmInfo. The Russian-Armenian University (RAU) has announced that Narek Torosyan, the conscript serviceman who died the previous day was a student at the Faculty of Journalism of the Russian-Armenian University (RAU). 

Marina Alekyan, Head of the Journalism Department, reported this on  her Facebook page on July 22.  On behalf of the university, she  expressed condolences to Torosyan's family and everyone who knew him.   "With deep pain and sorrow, we report that a serviceman of the Armed  Forces of the Republic of Armenia and RAU student, Narek Torosyan,  has prematurely passed away. In connection with this heavy loss, the  university's leadership, faculty, staff, and student community  express their deepest condolences to Narek's family, relatives,  friends, and everyone who knew and loved him.

Every memory of Narek becomes even more precious today. His  character, modesty, and kindness will remain in the memory of those  who knew him as the image of a bright and good young man. Our  university family shares in this inexpressibly heavy grief and  supports Narek's relatives, wishing them strength and fortitude to  endure the pain of this irreplaceable loss. Rest in peace, dear  Narek. May your memory be bright, and may your soul be among the  light."

Curiously, the Armenian Ministry of Defense has not announced the  death. The Armenian Investigative Committee's statement initially  contained no information other than the fact of non-combat death and  the initiation of a criminal case. Later, only the initials of the  deceased serviceman appeared. This sparked outrage in Armenian  society, as it left the parents of the young men currently serving in  the army uncertain, as their initials could match those of the  deceased. In the past, the Armenian Ministry of Defense typically  published the first, last, and patronymic names of the deceased.

Meanwhile, according to media reports, the serviceman was brutally  beaten. Moreover, this occurred during his first combat duty, which  prompted him to commit suicide. It is reported that two suspects are  expected to be detained in the case.
