New EUR 1mln EU resilience program launched in Syunik and Vayots Dzor

ArmInfo. A new EUR 1mln program to strengthen preparedness for natural, man-made, and humanitarian emergencies is being launched in Armenia. The EU Delegation's press  service reported this.

"The Government of Armenia, with the support of the European Union,  the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and  partners, is taking an important step to strengthen preparedness for  natural, man-made, and humanitarian emergencies," the EU said in a  statement.

The new 24-month training program will enhance the capacity of 12  communities in Syunik and Vayots Dzor by: strengthening coordination  at the national and local levels; raising public awareness, early  warning, and response systems; and providing training and other  necessary resources.

The EU said the ?1 million initiative, co-financed by the EU  Humanitarian Aid Agency, builds on existing results, such as  modernising disaster risk management plans, providing emergency  supplies and digital tools to help communities respond effectively to  emergencies and build resilience for a safer future.
