ArmInfo. A prenatal screening program to detect congenital abnormalities in fetuses is already in place in the Ararat and Lori regions.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the screening program, implemented at the Hayriyan Medical Center in Masis and the Spitak Medical Center, allows all pregnant women in the region to undergo biochemical testing and expert ultrasound examinations to detect congenital abnormalities in the fetus during the prenatal stage.
Screening is funded by the state and is completely free for patients. The program has also been implemented in the Shirak region (Gyumri Medical Center, Akhuryan Maternal and Child Health Center) and the Tavush region (Ijevan Primary Health Care Center).
According to the source, there are plans to expand the program to other areas in the near future.
