ArmInfo. During their latest protest demanding the resumption of operations, employees of the sealed "MultiStone" plant in Abovyan managed to reach Vazgen Badalyan, the head of the local Investigative Committee division. It was Badalyan who, ten days ago, ordered the facility to be sealed, leaving hundreds of employees without work or a source of income.
Since early morning, plant workers had gathered at the Investigative Committee building, demanding to meet with Badalyan to get answers to their urgent questions. However, law enforcement officials claimed that the head was not on the premises. When the workers asked for permission to verify this for themselves, representatives of the security services replied that they lacked the necessary authorization to grant entry.
After a lengthy discussion, one of the employees was permitted to contact Badalyan by phone. Warning him that the call was on speakerphone, the worker asked questions on behalf of the protesters. In response, the head of the Abovyan Investigative Committee stated that he did not consider it appropriate to answer questions in such a format. Offering no clarity, he simply remarked, "If you have questions, we will talk later."
This response did not satisfy the protesters. They said such treatment forces them to resort to extreme measures, as the situation directly affects the well-being of their families and their ability to meet financial obligations.
"The ordinary citizen is needed by the authorities only when it comes to elections. In all other cases, we are treated as if we are invisible," the workers stated. Following this interaction, the protesters decided to return to the plant to continue awaiting a response.
