ArmInfo.The former Mayor of Vanadzor and parliamentary candidate from Samvel Karapetyan's "Strong Armenia" bloc, Mamikon Aslanyan, has announced that a new criminal case has been initiated against him.
"This case has been under consideration since 2022, and it is not about me. However, in 2026, they decided to revive it after I announced my decision to join 'Strong Armenia,'" Aslanyan stated on his Facebook page. According to Aslanyan, he was summoned to the Investigative Committee, where he was formally notified that he has been charged as an accused party in the case. He added that he did not provide any testimony during his visit to the investigative body. Aslanyan also noted that bail and a travel ban have been imposed on him as preventive measures.
"I was living my normal life until I learned that the case had been sent to court. I do not know the details of the case. This matter was severed from my previous 2021 case in order to restrict my political activity," he stated.
