ArmInfo. From July 10 to 12, the border village of Koghb in the Tavush region hosted a vibrant celebration of Vardavar, complete with traditional festivities and a rich cultural program.
The festival program features a wide array of activities, including water games, master classes, folk dances, concerts, meetings and discussions, and art projects. One of the highlights was a performance of the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia, which presented its Symphonic Folk program, combining Armenian folk music and symphonic sounds. The festival is organized annually by the Koghb Foundation.
Speaking to an ArmInfo correspondent on the sidelines of the event, Maria Petrosyan, Director of the Koghb Foundation, noted that the festival attracts between 10,000 and 12,000 visitors annually. The audience includes not only residents of Koghb and neighboring communities but also a significant number of visitors from Yerevan, as well as tourists from Georgia, Iran, and further abroad.
As Petrosyan noted, this year's festival was built around the theme "Love and Water," inspired by the Komitas piece of the same name, where "love" symbolizes unity and "water" represents freedom.
While the festival has a four-year history, it has been held in an expanded three-day format for the past two years. According to Petrosyan, this decision was made because the organizers receive an abundance of creative ideas that can no longer be contained within a single-day event.
The director emphasized that the festival has a tangible economic impact on the life of the border community. Each year, more entrepreneurs participate in the "Koghb Expo" to showcase their products, the number of guesthouses and hotels hosting tourists continues to grow, and the local restaurant sector is becoming increasingly active. Thus, beyond its cultural mission, the festival serves as a catalyst for the socio-economic development of the border community.
It is worth noting that the main partner of the festival was the telecommunications company Team Telecom Armenia.
