ArmInfo. Two newly elected members of the National Assembly of Armenia of the 9th convocation from the ruling Civil Contract party, Tavros Sapeyan and Vagharshak Hakobyan, have decided to resign their mandates.
On his Facebook page, Tavros Sapeyan, the mayor of Talin, announced his intention to continue serving as the mayor of the community. "I would like to announce that I am stepping down as a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and will continue my work as the head of the Talin community. I made this decision based on the trust of my fellow citizens, their expressed will, and the conviction that today I can be most useful here, alongside you. For me, the people's trust and opinion have been and remain the highest responsibility. This decision was carefully considered and is based on one simple conviction: today, my main mission and task is here, in Talin," Sapeyan noted.
Vagharshak Hakobyan, in turn, announced his intention to move to the private sector. "I have decided to continue my work in the private sector. To this end, I have submitted my resignation from my seat in the National Assembly of the 9th convocation, which will be officially submitted to the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia tomorrow. I would like to express my deep gratitude to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who, as a result of the 2018 revolution, restored the fundamental right to vote to citizens of the Republic of Armenia. Over the years, Armenia has become a more democratic, more sovereign, more independent, and, most importantly, more peaceful state. I am proud to say that the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the ruling Civil Contract faction, of which I am also honored to be a member, have played a vital role in this process. At the same time, I would like to inform you that this decision was made in consultation with the Prime Minister and the board of the Civil Contract party. I remain a member of the party and will continue to actively participate in its activities, providing comprehensive support to my political team," emphasized Vagharshak Hakobyan.
