
ArmInfo. The National Olympic Committee of Armenia (NOCA) expressed its unconditional support for Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, renowned businessman, philanthropist, and head of the NOCA.
The statement stated that the Committee expresses its deep concern and solidarity with Gagik Tsarukyan, President of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, and his family.
"In these difficult days, the team wishes Gagik Tsarukyan a speedy release, and his family members strength, fortitude, patience, and faith to overcome this ordeal. The entire team of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia remains firmly by the side of its president and his family," the statement read.
The Pan-Armenian Public Alliance also expressed its solidarity and support for Tsarukyan. "We are confident that his unwavering will, humanism, and the love and support of the people will help him overcome this latest trial. The Alliance hopes that he will soon return to his family, friends, associates, and loved ones," the statement read.
The Boxing Federation of Armenia also expressed its support for Tsarukyan. "The Boxing Federation of Armenia expresses solidarity and support to Gagik Tsarukyan and his family, wishing Gagik Tsarukyan a speedy release, and his family strength, fortitude, and patience," the Federation stated.
On July 6, law enforcement officers conducted searches at the home of party leader Gagik Tsarukyan, as well as at more than 70 addresses, including companies belonging to the Multi Group concern. Following the completion of the investigation, Tsarukyan was detained and taken to the Investigative Committee of Armenia. He is charged with alleged fraud and money laundering on an especially large scale.
On the same day, a court ordered Tsarukyan's arrest for two months. Tsarukyan denies the charges, claiming that the ongoing events are politically motivated pressure from the ruling authorities.
In the parliamentary elections on June 7, 2026, the Prosperous Armenia Party, led by Gagik Tsarukyan, received 3.9893% of the vote. According to the official version, the political force was approximately 150 votes short of entering parliament, where the threshold for parties is set at 4%. The opposition, however, believes that the Prosperous Armenia Party did enter parliament, but that due to the illegal actions of the head of the Central Election Commission, the party's votes were stolen.
