ArmInfo. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Republic of Argentina Javier Gerardo Milei on the occasion of Independence Day, which, in particular, states:
"I warmly congratulate you and the friendly people of Argentina on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Argentina.
Armenia highly appreciates the long-standing friendly relations established with Argentina, which are based on mutual respect and trust. I note with satisfaction the continuous development and expansion of the strong cooperation between our countries, as evidenced by the active cooperation in the economic, technological, educational and cultural spheres and the recent achievements.
I am confident that, thanks to joint efforts, we will continue to enrich and improve the cooperation between Armenia and Argentina for the benefit of our peoples."
It is worth noting that Armenia and Argentina have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992. Argentina is one of the countries with the largest Armenian diaspora in Latin America, with an estimated population of approximately 120,000-130,000. Cooperation between the two countries is developing in the political, economic, educational, technological, and cultural spheres, and Buenos Aires has traditionally maintained a friendly stance on issues of interest to Armenia.
Argentina also became the first Latin American country to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, passing a law to that effect in 2007. The country officially commemorates the victims of the Armenian Genocide on April 24 as the Day of Tolerance and Mutual Respect Among Peoples. Memorials to the victims of the Genocide have been erected in Buenos Aires and other cities across Argentina.
