ArmInfo. "I would like to inform the public that I have received a notice signed by the YSU Rector stating that I will no longer be teaching at the university as of September 1," human rights activist Ruben Melikyan wrote on his Facebook page.
"It is obvious to me that this decision is motivated by my human rights and social activism, as no concerns regarding the quality of my teaching were—or could have been—presented to me. Despite my heavy workload, my decision to contribute to the education of new generations of university students for decades was primarily driven by my moral duty to my alma mater. Therefore, I am concluding my 23-year teaching career at YSU with a clear conscience and an open heart. At the same time, I view this decision by the acting rector of YSU as an act of arbitrariness and illegality. This is just a small drop in the monstrous program of "Azerbaijanization" of Armenia, an important component of which is the inspection of the scientific and educational system. In this regard, the decision taken against me is neither the first, and unfortunately, likely not the last. Naturally, I will continue my educational and scientific activities. In the coming days, I will announce the date of the presentation of my monograph on the Armenian Code of Laws of Mkhitar Gosh," Melikyan wrote.
He added that intends to soon present his work, which he has been working on for about six years, to the public. "At that time, people were also fighting against the 'de-Armenianization' program in Armenia and were also subjected to various persecutions," the human rights activist noted.
