ArmInfo. The opposition party "Strong Armenia" views the acquisition of winning seats in the 9th National Assembly as the shortest route toward challenging the government of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Party leader Samvel Karapetyan made this statement in a conversation with journalists on July 7.
"We do not recognize the legitimacy of the current government, but opposing it requires more than just street protests," Karapetyan stated. "We need a multifaceted approach; if the opportunities exist, we will engage in both street-level resistance and parliamentary struggle." He noted that the decision to accept parliamentary mandates was driven both by a clear signal from the electorate and the need for a formal legislative platform.
While Karapetyan did not rule out the possibility of further "illegal actions" by the authorities, he dismissed the notion that the government could easily suppress opposition movements. "Our strategy included the decision to accept these mandates," he added. "Furthermore, there are five additional steps we have already made public to advance our agenda."
