ArmInfo. The Yerevan Criminal Court of Primary Instance is considering the prosecutor's office's motion to arrest businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party.
In a conversation with journalists outside the courthouse, Mother Armenia Party member Aregnaz Manukyan noted that all opposition forces should have been present, as political prisoners cannot be divided into "friends" and "foes." She emphasized that what is happening is devoid of substance and is merely an order issued by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is taking revenge on Tsarukyan.
According to Manukyan, the authorities have degenerated so much that they are even trying to take revenge on Tsarukyan with the help of animals. She emphasized that the case is being heard by the judge who ordered the arrest of Mother Armenia party leader Andranik Tevanyan under an illegal order. Manukyan also appealed to opposition forces for support, calling on them to raise their voices in defense of Gagik Tsarukyan.
As a reminder, on July 6, Prosperous Armenia party leader and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan was detained and taken to the Investigative Committee of Armenia. He is accused of organizing fraud and money laundering on an especially large scale. According to investigators, between 2022 and 2024, a group operating under his leadership, under the pretext of developing trade and economic ties between Armenia and Iran, created joint legal entities with the participation of Iranian citizens, after which they carried out a fraudulent scheme, causing damages totaling over $21 million. Furthermore, Gagik Tsarukyan has been charged with another offense: illegal hunting.
