ArmInfo. Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, stated that after the parliamentary elections held in Armenia on June 7, the situation in the country not only failed to stabilize, but also led to an even greater social division.
According to Tsarukyan, instead of internal harmony, "anger, tension, and division among the people" have intensified in Armenia. The politician noted that during his eight years in power, the team of current Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has failed to create a political atmosphere in which the election campaign would be based on programs rather than hatred, threats, and hostility.
Tsarukyan emphasized that he believes the main reason for the current problems is the lack of a sense of unity and shared responsibility among society. "We are all in the same boat. Positions, mandates, and personal interests become meaningless if our common boat sinks," the politician wrote on his Facebook page.
Tsarukyan also rejected the claim that he participated in the election campaign to protect his own business. He said he deliberately gave up his "calm and carefree life" to help the country overcome the crisis.
The PAP leader paid special attention to the economic situation in Armenia. He criticized attempts to divide the economy into "pro-Russian" and "pro-Western" and warned that Armenian goods are rapidly losing ground in the Russian market, giving way to Azerbaijani products.
He believes that if this trend continues, agriculture, business, the state budget, and entire sectors of the economy will be at risk.
In conclusion, Tsarukyan stated that the projects he is implementing to build the statue of Christ and "Noah's Ark" have not only economic but also symbolic significance, embodying the idea of unity, common goals, and a shared future for Armenia.
As a reminder, businessman Gagik Tsarukyan became a target of the current Armenian authorities after announcing his participation in the country's parliamentary elections. During the election campaign, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan publicly announced his intention to nationalize the Ararat Cement plant, which belongs to the Tsarukyan family. Following this, the Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit demanding that the privatization of the enterprise be invalidated. At the same time, law enforcement agencies initiated an investigation against Tsarukyan himself on charges of large-scale tax evasion. In addition, the prosecutor's office is seeking the confiscation of the property of former Kotayk Governor Karapet Guloyan and his wife Roza Tsarukyan, the daughter of the leader of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party, alleging the alleged illegal origin of the assets.
