ArmInfo. The ratification of the Charter of the Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia will be discussed at an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on July 3.
Presenting the document, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan noted that the Alliance is an important platform for regional cooperation, uniting the efforts of Asian countries in the fields of preservation, management, and promotion of cultural heritage and professional development. The initiative to establish the Alliance was launched on October 27, 2021. Armenia is a founding member of the initiative, along with China, Cambodia, North Korea, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Syria, the UAE, and Yemen. The Alliance's Charter was approved and entered into force on April 25, 2023.
The Minister recalled that on January 25, 2025, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia ratified the initial version of the Alliance's Charter. During the organization's second Council meeting, an amendment to the Charter was approved, changing the organization's status to an international non- governmental organization. Consequently, it became necessary to confirm Armenia's membership in the Alliance.
Zhanna Andreasyan also noted that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia submitted a grant application to the Alliance, the first of which, in the amount of 32 million drams, has already been received. This grant will be used to implement the "Silk Road Model from a Local Perspective" program. The project will be implemented by the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences.
