ArmInfo. Former Yerevan Mayor and former RA Minister of Transport and Communications Gagik Beglaryan will remain in pretrial detention for another two months.
In an interview with "A1+," his lawyer, Hrant Ananyan, considered the decision of Anti- Corruption Criminal Court Judge Aram Grigoryan unfair. The lawyer recalled that during a previous pretrial detention hearing, another judge of the same court partially granted the investigative body's motion, noting that one month was sufficient to conduct the investigative actions, given the scope of those actions. "In essence, the Anti-Corruption Court disrespected its own decision," says lawyer Hrant Ananyan.
According to him, the investigative team of 12 investigators carried out only partial actions, but the motion was granted. The lawyer detailed the grounds for Gagik Beglaryan's continued detention. After a court verdict is issued, the decision must be provided to the parties within three hours, according to the law. Hrant Ananyan sees a problem here, as almost 24 hours have passed and the decision has still not been provided. Once it is received, he will file an appeal to the Court of Appeals.
As a reminder, Gagik Beglaryan was charged with alleged abuse of office and large-scale money laundering. He has been in custody since June 5 and denies the charges.
