


ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed his intention to travel to Iran on July 3.
"Yes, I will go tomorrow and return tomorrow. Naturally, meetings with the Iranian leadership are planned," Pashinyan told reporters on July 2, confirming reports that he would attend the farewell ceremony for the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Earlier, Iranian media reported that that leaders from several countries would attend the farewell ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader. Among those expected to participate are the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev; former President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov; Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili; and other regional leaders.
According to the official program, the civil farewell ceremony will begin at 6:00 AM local time on July 4 at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tehran and last until 8:00 PM on July 5. Funeral prayers will be held on the morning of July 5. Following ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, and Iraq, the late leader will be buried in Mashhad on Thursday, July 9. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei died on February 28 of this year at the age of 86 as a result of US-Israeli aggression against Iran. US-Israeli air forces launched missile strikes on his residence.
