ArmInfo.Effective July 6, 2026, individuals whose driver's licenses were revoked due to administrative offenses will be eligible to restore their driving privileges without retaking exams. The decision was made during a government meeting.
According to RA Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, if the driver's license revocation period has already expired as of July 6, citizens will have one year to register on the Ministry of Internal Affairs' online platform to restore their licenses without retaking the exam. The state fee will be 50,000 drams.
A package of amendments to the driver's license issuance procedure was also approved at the government meeting. The system will now automatically retrieve health data—such as information on substance dependencies and mental health conditions—directly from the ArMed system. This data may serve as grounds for the suspension of driving privileges. The validity period for a passing score on the theoretical exam is being doubled, increasing from one year to two years. This is intended to provide candidates with more flexibility to complete their practical exams.
Another change concerns the content of theoretical exams. Starting September 1, 2026, theoretical exam content will be tailored to the specific vehicle category requested. Applicants for categories A, B, and C (and their subcategories) will face questions relevant to those vehicles, while those applying for D, T, and D1 categories will be tested exclusively on questions pertinent to those types of transport. The delay until September allows the MIA to update its digital examination systems accordingly.
The Prime Minister emphasized that while these changes offer greater convenience, road safety remains a fundamental state priority.
