ArmInfo. A new water supply schedule began in Yerevan on July 1. According to Veolia Jur CJSC, for 2.5 months, most addresses in the capital will have water supplied on a 17- to 19-hour schedule, but some administrative districts will continue to operate on a 24-hour schedule.
According to the company's published water supply schedule and outage schedule, the restrictions will affect numerous addresses in all 12 administrative districts of the capital: Downtown, Arabkir, Ajapnyak, Malatia-Sebastia, Kanaker-Zeytun, Nor-Nork, Nork Marash, Nubarashen, Davtashen, Avan, Erebuni, and Shengavit.
It's worth noting that while Veolia Jur reports 17-19 hour water supply for residents of the capital, residents of the Arabkir district have been without water for two days. Residents are deprived of basic hygiene, especially those living in apartments.
As a reminder, on February 23, 2026, Veolia Jur published a schedule that envisaged switching some customers in Yerevan and the regions to a 17-hour water supply schedule-from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM- from May 1 to September 16. The decision sparked widespread public outcry. The company attributed it to a seasonal increase in water consumption, a decline in water source flow of approximately 24%, the connection of tens of thousands of new subscribers, and the limited capacity of the existing infrastructure. Despite this, on February 25, 2026, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan announced that the schedule had been suspended following a government discussion involving all stakeholders. Even then, opposition forces noted that the Armenian authorities had delayed the start of water shutoffs in the capital to avoid discouraging voters ahead of the country's upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.
According to Veolia Jur, approximately 11 billion drams are earmarked for investment in 2025-2026 for the modernization of water supply and sanitation systems in Yerevan and surrounding communities. The program is expected to reduce water losses and supply an additional 270 liters of water per second to the network.
Yerevan's water supply system has been maintained by the French company Veolia Jur since January 1, 2017, under a 15-year lease agreement. The company holds a monopoly on water supply and sanitation services in the capital and most regions of Armenia.
