ArmInfo. Anna Hakobyan, spouse of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Executive Director of the "My Step" Charitable Foundation, is participating in the annual Global Academy for First Ladies and Gentlemen (GAFLG) in New York, held from June 30 to July 2.
According to the press service of the "My Step" Foundation, the three-day academy—hosted at the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice—convened representatives from Slovenia, Angola, Senegal, Guatemala, and other nations. The event is held under the theme "Leadership in Times of Global Uncertainty" and focuses on three core pillars: the nuances of leadership, the advancement of national initiatives under challenging circumstances, and the role of regional and international cooperation in addressing global crises.
At the beginning of the program, participants outlined the primary challenges they face in their respective roles. Subsequently, they attended a seminar titled "Soft Power, Public Leadership, and Regional Alliances," led by Dr. Lucrecia Peinado, President of the ALMA Alliance. Additionally, attendees participated in an interactive lecture by Marc Brackett, Director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, titled "Returning to Internal Balance: Resilience, Personal Boundaries, and Conscious Leadership," which emphasized emotional intelligence, psychological resilience, and value-based leadership.
It is worth noting that Pashinyan and Hakobyan have not officially registered their marriage and live in a civil marriage. Furthermore, according to the Constitution of Armenia, the head of state is the President; therefore, the title of "First Lady" is formally associated with the spouse of the President of Armenia.
