ArmInfo. The Investigative Committee of Armenia has opened a criminal case in connection with the shooting in Vanadzor by a contract serviceman of the RA Ministry of Defense. This was reported by Investigative Committee spokesperson Kima Avdalyan.
According to her, in a deserted area of Vanadzor, the contract soldier, believing there were no civilians nearby, fired several shots into the ground from his air pistol, which, according to preliminary data, was loaded with small bullets. At this point, a patrol police officer approached him, to whom the soldier voluntarily showed his air pistol and stated that it belonged to him. "The press is publishing photos from the scene that are untrue. A criminal investigation has been launched to clarify the circumstances of the incident," Avdalyan noted.
Earlier, the media reported that the incident occurred on June 28th during the day on Alaverdyan Street. A police officer on duty noticed a man firing a pistol. It was identified as 35-year-old Frunzik S., a resident of the Lori region. The man claimed the pistol was his and, since he was about to undergo certification, decided to practice and fired several shots into the ground.
