ArmInfo.The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia (MOESCS) announces with deep sorrow that Raisa Mkrtchyan, an outstanding representative of Armenian pop art and People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia, passed away on June 27 at the age of 83.
In connection with the passing of the People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia, a state funeral commission has been established by the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. The date and time of the civil funeral service and farewell ceremony will be announced later. The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to the family, relatives, and countless admirers of Raisa Mkrtchyan.
"Raisa Mkrtchyan is rightfully considered one of the iconic figures of the Armenian stage, and her creative legacy occupies a significant place in the history of Armenian musical culture. She was among those artists who represented Armenian musical art on the world's most prestigious stages, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Carnegie Hall, as well as renowned concert halls in Sydney, Montreal, Beirut, and Buenos Aires," the Ministry's statement reads.
